Community Update: Partner Up & Get Support

NFDI4ING is expanding its community engagement: Become an Associated Partner and make your connection to our network visible, or get in touch with our expanded Helpdesk for support with your research data management questions.

Become part of the NFDI4ING network!
Our new Associated Partner programme offers a straightforward way of establishing your connection to NFDI4ING and making it visible without the commitments associated with formal participation in the consortium. The programme is open to individual researchers, research groups, and organisational units in Germany that are already collaborating with NFDI4ING or would like to become more closely involved.

We have made becoming an Associated Partner very easy: applicants need only submit a short FAIRness Commitment and Expression of Interest (.docx). As an Associated Partner, you become a visible part of the NFDI4ING network: partners are listed on our website and may use the NFDI4ING logo to communicate their affiliation. This provides a simple way to demonstrate your connection to NFDI4ING and your commitment to FAIR research data management (RDM), for example on your website, in project activities, or in the context of research funding proposals. More on the programme and the benefits of becoming an associated partner can be found here.

Questions about RDM? Ask us!
At the same time, we are scaling up our NFDI4ING Helpdesk as a central point of contact for questions about research data management in engineering. Whether you are just getting started with RDM or facing a highly specific challenge, we would like to hear from you. The helpdesk is designed to connect researchers’ requirements with expertise within NFDI4ING and, where appropriate, with other RDM support structures.

Questions can range from the fundamentals like “What are the benefits of RDM? When should I start thinking about it?”, to more specialised topics such as choosing a suitable repository, identifying disciplinary metadata standards, setting up RDM for a DFG-funded collaborative project, or making data in proprietary formats more FAIR.

There is no question too basic or too specific. Contact us with your RDM questions and challenges. And if the expertise you need lies outside NFDI4ING, we can help connect you with the right people and support structures. NFDI4ING explicitly works with local and state-level RDM initiatives, data competence centres, other NFDI consortia and further support networks.
