A scholarly-led, Diamond Open Access journal for publishing, reviewing and discussing research data management in engineering sciences.
As research data management (RDM) becomes central to engineering sciences, researchers, data stewards, and practitioners need a place to publish, discuss, and get academic credit for this work. ing.grid – FAIR Data Management in Engineering Sciences is that place. A scholarly-led Diamond Open Access journal, ing.grid uses open peer review to foster transparent scientific discussion. It accepts manuscripts, open access datasets, and open source software — each reviewed on its own terms. The journal runs on the open-source platform Janeway and is backed by an international editorial board of RDM experts from NFDI4ING and beyond.
What you can publish
ing.grid covers seven core topics in research data management. Contributions from all engineering subdisciplines – and beyond – are welcome.
| Data Literacy | Educational concepts, best practices, case studies |
| Data Infrastructure | Tools for the data-rich research environment |
| Data Governance | Curation strategies, collaboration frameworks |
| Data Economics | Value and impact of research data |
| Data Ethics | Moral dimensions of data generation, sharing, and use |
| Datasets | Good practices in structuring data and exchange formats |
| Data Management Software | Tools built specifically for RDM |
Our Principles
Diamond Open Access
Open Peer Review
FAIR by Design
Beyond Manuscripts
Free for readers and authors. No article processing charges, ever.
Transparent, post-publication review. All review comments are publicly accessible.
FAIR principles are embedded across the entire workflow — from what authors must provide, to how reviewers assess, to what gets published.
Submit manuscripts, datasets and APIs, or research software — each reviewed on its own terms.
Submission Types
