Presentation of the NFDI-RFC Standardisation Concept – Save the Date

The NFDI-RFC (Request for Comments) concept, developed by NFDI4ING, aims to provide a platform that supports bottom-up, community-driven standardisation efforts in research data management (RDM). From March 9 to 10, 2026, the NFDI-RFC development team will host an in-person workshop in Karlsruhe, running “from lunch to lunch”. The workshop is intended for experts from all NFDI consortia for whom standardisation of research data management is a central concern. The program includes a keynote on standardisation, a Q&A session, and a hands-on tutorial outlining the proposed workflow.

During the event, the NFDI-RFC team will present the current state of development and engage participants in discussions on key aspects of the concept – such as release and workflow management, as well as the strengths and limitations of the proposed approach. The aim is to encourage participation and build acceptance for the suggested standardisation process. This workshop will also prepare the ground for the subsequent public comment phase of the concept.

More information on the event location and the detailed agenda will be added soon.
