NFDI4Ing Maturity Model

Logo
Detailed description of the service

The NFDI4Ing Maturity Model consists of individual maturity models for different phases of research data management. A total of 5 separate models address the implementation of research data management in research projects and include the objectives of RDM.
The maturity models are aimed at researchers who are working on a research project and are responsible for managing the digital objects arising as part of their research. The models enable a self-assessment of the current status of the RDM in the project based on goal definitions and show improvements for the standardised and optimised implementation of the RDM through downstream maturity levels and thus serve as support for the implementation of research data management. The goals are defined phase-specifically at the various maturity levels. This enables continuous improvement of the RDM in research projects.
As the implementation of RDM always depends on the research discipline, the models provide users with both best practices and general practices and can be extended on a project-specific basis. As the goals cannot be written individually for each discipline, the models have a descriptive character and are orientated towards engineering research, which means that they can be used for the various research areas and project types in engineering research.

Tags

NFDI4ING services may be relevant to different users according to varying requirements. To support filtering or sorting, we added a tag system outlining which archetype, phase of the data lifecycle, or degree of maturity a service corresponds to. By clicking on one of the tags below, you can get an overview of all services aligned with each tag.

This service has the following tags:

The tags correspond to:
The Archetypes: Services relevant to Alex – Bespoke Experiments, Betty – Research Software Engineering, Caden – Provenance Tracking, Doris – High Performance Computing, Ellen – Complex Systems, Fiona – Data Re-Use and Enrichment

The data lifecycle: Services related to Informing & Planning, Organising & Processing, Describing & Documenting, Storing & Computing,
Finding & Re-Using, Learning & Teaching

The maturity of the service: Services sorted according to their maturity and status of their integration into the larger NFDI service landscape. For this we use the Integration Readiness Level (IRL), ranging from IRL0 (no specifications, strictly internal use) up to IRL4 (fully integrated in the German research data landscape and the EOSC). Click here for a diagram outlining all Integration Readiness Levels.
