The NFDI4Ing Community Meeting with the archetypes Alex and Doris took place on October 16th, 2024. The event began with an introductory talk by Prof. Dr. Peter F. Pelz, followed by Dr. Noback’s presentation introducing the NFDI4Ing Task Area Alex. Four short presentations from Alex covered topics such as FAIR Research Data Management on a physical test rig, the bachelor lab course “Praktikum Digitalisierung”, the topic of Big Data in the lab, as well as systematic collection of metadata.
After a short break, Prof. Christian Stemmer introduced the Task Area Doris, followed by two presentations from colleagues working in TA Doris. These presentations focused on the Multi-Access Research Gateway for HPC Experts and Ontology-based Metadata Extraction and Re-use. The meeting concluded with Prof. Stemmer providing an outlook and a farewell.
The event welcomed 42 participants and hosted lively discussions. It successfully raised awareness of the importance of research data management in the engineering sciences. The participants gained valuable insights and practical experience to apply in their future research and work.
We would like to extend our thanks to all the speakers and participants for their dedication, and we look forward to more exciting events as part of NFDI4Ing.
