NFDI4ING provides a template for data management plans (DMPs) specifically aimed at engineers in the Research Data Management Organiser (RDMO). This template is now part of an incubator in the Base4NFDI project DMP4NFDI. The template is being revised and updated to further improve its fit to the needs of the engineering sciences.
Running from May to September 2026, the incubator aims to make the template more user-friendly and practical, and to integrate it more closely into the NFDI ecosystem. Researchers in the engineering sciences will benefit from a more intuitive, standardised and interoperable tool to support their research data management tasks.
A major goal is to align the existing template with the NFDI DMP Template Framework to better integrate with the NFDI infrastructure and update the content to incorporate user feedback.
We are currently also working on implementing a user-friendly workflow to facilitate the exchange of metadata between RDMO and repositories, primarily Coscine and RADAR. Taking this development into account, the new version of the NFDI4ING DMP template for engineers will also facilitate this exchange.
